ACTIVITIES BUILDING — The building next to the parking lot once known as the CCD Building and previously as the parish rectory has seen better days. As you can see by looking at it, the foundation is falling apart. Inside, the support beams are dry-rotting and there is no hot water. The furnace is about dead. Plans are being finalized with the Brentwood Fire Department to have a “controlled burn”. The Fire Department will use the building as a training site. After the building is burned down we will plant grass until we have enough funds to expand our parking lot. At this time we are asking any group organization that is using the building to remove their items before May 30th. For safety reasons, the building will be off limits to everyone after May 31st. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article

(Update 6/22/04: The building has been taken down. The Diocese for legal reasons would not permit a controlled burn, nor would the County grant the Fire Department a permit because of the proximity of the building to other structures. The Fire Department had been using the building for other various training exercises that provides priceless training for members who volunteer their time and talents to our community.)
