Father Mark was born and raised in Bethel Park, PA. Father received all of his sacraments at Saint Valentine Parish. Father attended South Hills Catholic High School (now Seton-La Salle H.S.) Father attended Saint Paul Seminary in Crafton and received his BA from Duquesne University. Father attended major seminary at Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, PA. Father Mark was ordained on May 11, 1985.

As a Seminarian, Father Mark was assigned to Annunciation Parish (now Incarnation Parish) on the Pittsburgh North Side; and Holy Rosary Parish in Muse, PA. Father served a year as a Deacon at Sacred Heart Parish in Shadyside.
